Η team In Power, a group of artists with and without disabilities, after a long research course on the new dramaturgy and after the successful performances "Horses in Love" and "Sleepwalkers" directed by Eleni Efthymiou, is for the first time dealing with ancient drama and specifically with "Antigone" by Sophocles. The performance "Project Antigone", directed by Sophia Antoniou, will be presented for two unique performances at the Archaeological Museum of Aiani Kozani, on 9 and 10 August, at 21.00, in the framework of the program 2024 of the Ministry of Culture's institution "All Greece is one culture". The event is offered free of charge to the public.
A social group that clashes daily with the state, society, laws and the mentality of our fellow citizens on issues of acceptance, accessibility and social inclusion asks itself whether it lives in a fair world, whether laws are created to protect people or the opposite. She wonders how far she would go for her beliefs. "The impossible cannot be done," Ismene says in the prologue, but we have to try.
The story of Antigone is written to inspire us throughout time.
Sophia Antoniou, a graduate of the National Theatre's School of Direction, with a special research interest in classical dramaturgy and her collaboration with social groups such as the En Dynami group, directs the performance "Antigone Project", with the notion of inclusion as the main dramaturgical axis.
On this axis, the En Dynami group expands, and for the first time, includes in the theatrical act citizens and members of theatrical groups of Kozani and Aiani in order to create a Dance 33of of people with and without disabilities, of different ages, origins and experiences, which resonates to the rhythm of ancient tragedy.
In the courtyard of the Aiani Archaeological Museum an extraordinary general assembly is taking place that invites us to take a stand.
