Το μικρό μικρό σπίτι

Home? The small little house

This particular project poses essential questions around the issue of the construction of the self, that is, it places issues of identity in a context much broader than the conventional boundaries of contemporary art. If contemporary art is a vehicle for different experiences of the world, the project "Home; the small-small house" can make a decisive contribution in this direction and enrich the environment of contemporary artistic creation and reception.

Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art//1-2.2016

The contemporary art installation "Home; the small - small house" is an attempt to define the self, our desires, our dreams, outside the social framework that imposes on all of us ways of seeing ourselves, our desires, our dreams, our space. The En Dynami group, in its research path towards the performance "The "Other" House", chose to express itself first with visual language in order to give form to its thoughts and ideas. The visual approach combined with technology proved to be perfectly suited for a new experiential exploration, where the emotions and desires of the Enable artists create a direct dialogue of reactions and stimuli. This artistic proposal was adopted by the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art as an extremely interesting experiment and was exhibited at the museum from 29 January to 15 February. The artistic curatorship of the exhibition was undertaken by art historian Thouli Mysirloglou.

Note by the art curator Thoulis Mysirloglou

"This particular project raises essential questions around the issue of the construction of the self, that is, it places issues of identity in a context much broader than the conventional boundaries of contemporary art. If contemporary art is a vehicle for different experiences of the world, the project "Home; the small-small house" can make a decisive contribution in this direction and enrich the environment of contemporary artistic creation and reception."

"In the evening I dreamed of it, the little - little house, my house. Like a smell that somehow reminds you of something, awakens your imagination and upsets you, but also causes you anxiety like every new and unknown thing. I dreamed of children whose homes are other homes. Where children are other children. Where their imaginations are not cowardly like mine. Who dared to sleep on flying carpets, to be acrobats in a red circus. Who knocked down walls so that wild animals of the forest could nest in their blankets. Thus, to turn the flight of fancy into matter."

The art installation was created in three stages:

Stage a'

It includes personal interviews of the team members, discussions, construction of a model and its application in physical space and size in order to create a new reality, a new small-small world. The artist-creators submit ideas, thoughts and texts about the "house" they would like to live in.

Stage b'

After making the model, the creative team prepares the room in real space exactly as the creator has imagined it. Using specially designed equipment, the film team records the artist's first contact with the space in a 3D video. This process is documented by photos and videos of the participants living inside their tiny dream home.

Stage c'

The photographic team visited more than 50 houses and recorded details that capture "diversity" as expressed through the inhabitants of the houses and their personal belongings. The collection of people's true stories will form part of the exhibition.

Where would you like to live? What does your dream place look like? Where do you feel happiness, joy, confidence? You can make anything you dream of!
