Workshop Title:
Exploring the vocal in-between: using movement and space to inhabit the text
Led by: Konstantinos Thomaidis

How do we ground our voice in the body? How do open our bodies towards finding new vocal possibilities?

In answering these questions, this workshop will bring together movement and voice work to help us embody the text. The training will beging from collective and individual physical activities designed to attune awareness, increase presence and sensitise our listening to, and communication with, each other.

We will then delve into exercises for breath, resonance and articulation, all of which treat our sound primarily as bodily gesture. Finally, we will turn our attention to how holistic and interpersonal movement can give text new meaning, helping us understand speech as physical action.

Our work will draw mainly on poetic text but we will also guide our experience of voice and movement through polyphonic song.

The activity is part of the project "Cross sectoral growth and optimization: building Education, Skills and Talent (CSGO BEST)" supported by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
