WHAT IS ZAGRIWOOD:
ZAGORIWOOD is a unique film festival-workshop.
It takes place every summer in the mountains of Epirus, centred on the village of Kato Pedina in the central Zagorochoria, about 40 km from the Greek-Albanian border and at an altitude of about 1000 metres. Since 2010, when it was organized for the first time, and every July since then, a large number of friends and professionals of cinema and audiovisual applications in general gather there, participating in the workshops, screenings and musical and theatrical events that take place. At the same time, they come into contact with the particular, rich tradition of the place (architecture, music, food, etc.) and with the local population, who participate in the activities by acting in the students' films, offering houses and filming spaces, etc.
Creators of contemporary cinema show their new films (as work in progress) for the first time to an audience, before they even make their way to international festivals and cinemas. Young filmmakers, in their first steps, come to deepen their knowledge in specialized areas of their art. Young, novice film lovers are taught the creative grammar of the image in depth.
