Signs

The space between. I divide the world into the known and the unknown. A separation that is both existential - narrowly spatial geographical and imaginary. The distance between what I know and what I don't know. The space where my reality can change. The map. The way I can recognize the world. My cosmology. The relationships. That which contains me, that which accepts me. What I accept and what I consciously or unconsciously reject. The unknown. What I don't know, what I can't even imagine. Signs.

An exhibition by the group En Dynami at the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art

A participatory, visual, interactive installation, which emerged from months of empirical research around the theme of mapping signs. The mixed-ability art group En Potential focuses on the concepts of the known and the unknown. What they mean and how each person manages these contrasting concepts. What is there between the known and the unknown, the familiar and the unfamiliar? Space, time, feelings, thoughts. How does each of us map the world, ourselves, our neighbourhood? What are the signs that we detect and recognize in order to reach our destination, the familiar, the known. Is it a hug, his home, a daily habit? What happens when he loses these signs?

Once I got lost in the centre because I couldn't find Aghia Sophia but I stopped, calmed down and continued and then I read the sign and found it.

I got lost downtown when my mom and I went to IKA and I lost it, but now I'm alive.

If I get lost I'll see that blue sign that says Orpheus Street.
