Artistic Education Programme for Young and Emerging European Artists
We are pleased to invite you to participate in the AEPYDEA Programme, an innovative 26-day training programme, designed to enable the participating artists to further develop their talents, to be inspired, to get in touch with innovative working and creative methods and to highlight their artistic presence in the European art scene.
About the Artistic Residency
The artistic residency - artistic training programme for young and emerging European artists AEPYDEA is funded by the Creative Europe programme under the European Cooperation Initiative. The programme will take place in Bulgaria, in the town of Kyustendil, near the capital Sofia, and offers a unique platform for young artists, actors, dancers, performers and creative technologists to engage in an artistic and educational experience that will enrich their knowledge and experience.

Participants will have the unique opportunity to work closely with renowned arts organisations in Europe and their selected trainers: with the team En dynamei from Greece, a group of artists with and without disabilities, which supports its members to integrate equally into society through Art, by developing professional theatrical performances and various artistic projects, the K. Dance from France, a dance and other arts company, engaged in the production, mediation and research projects integrating dance and digital arts, and the Cuartz from Bulgaria, a theatre and film production company, active in the fields of contemporary stage art and education.
Objectives of the Programme
The AEPYDEA project aims to:
- Equip participants with contemporary skills and knowledge in the performing arts.
- Strengthen collaboration between different disciplines, bridging dance, theatre and digital arts.
- Break down traditional boundaries between artistic genres, promoting interdisciplinary creativity.
- Provides a holistic understanding of contemporary practices in the performing arts.
What to Expect
- Expert Guidance:The programme is led by an excellent team of trainers and mentors from all over Europe.
- Interdisciplinary Learning:Collaborate with peers and mentors in a creative environment that encourages innovation across different art fields.
- Cultural Deepening:Experience Bulgaria's rich cultural heritage while networking with artists from different backgrounds and from different European countries.
- Creative Development:Discover new artistic approaches, develop your voice as a creator and learn how to navigate the professional world of performing arts.
Who can apply?
The programme is aimed at young and emerging artists (aged 18-35) from Europe, creative technologists, writers, performers and interdisciplinary artists with a passion for innovation and learning.
Basic Information
- Location:Kyustendil town, Bulgaria (near Sofia).
- Duration:26 days.
- Funding:The programme covers accommodation, meals and participation expenses. Limited places are available with a grant.
How to Apply
Interested parties must submit:
- Their completed application form.
- CV or portfolio presenting their artistic background.
- A motivation statement (up to 500 words) explaining their interest in the project and how they intend to contribute and benefit from the experience.

Kostas Vomvolos:
Setting the poetry of Greek Drama to South Balkan and Eastern Mediterranean rhythms.
Tassos Papadopoulos:
Synthesis - Ensemble Movement
Inspired by the role of dance in ancient Greek drama, this workshop explores co-existence, resonance, harmonious interaction, and collective movement about and among other bodies. Participants will work with aligned, symmetrical, and interconnected bodies to form a unified presence-a collective body that tells a story.

Michael Klein Vitoria Kotsalou:
The workshop focuses on movement as a means of transcending personal identity, fostering connection, and reimagining co-existence. Drawing from The Utopians, it explores how shared physical experience and ethical practices can create new possibilities for human relationships and communal harmony. Open to all, it invites participants to engage with movement as a universal language of connection and care.

Marianne Masson: Organic mouvement. Make your spine dance.
Jean-Marc Matos: AI vs BI, Artificial Intelligence versus Body Intelligence.

Scholarships
The AEPYDEA Programme offers a total of 50 places, of which 25 are accompanied by scholarships covering the full cost of participation. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of:
- Incentives:A sincere passion for the performing arts and a desire for personal growth.
- Relevant Experience:Background in performing arts or related fields.
- Contribution:The ability to bring new ideas and creativity to the artistic community.
